Not sure if you would be interested in a smaller cat boat, Transport makes the 16ft Baby Cat that is in your price range. Since I switched to a cat style boat, its night and day difference in performance and draft.

Gulf squid are great, when I was younger chartering out of Sea Ranch at SPI our group liked fresh squid over shrimp, now fishing mostly out of POC, I still get fresh squid when I can off the shrimp boats.

Advice Needed - New Orleans to Dauphin Island to Gulf Shores, AL
Advice needed Was thinking now about running from New Orleans to Dauphin to Gulf Shores, AL, but, as indicated in the attached image, I am not so sure about even that now with regard to the "seas" and my recent experience. Long runs are OK, for me because I am used to running 200+ miles/day - but not in 4 ft seas for 60+ miles.

I used to have a Gulf Coast 20 lowside, it was a nice rig. I figure the 23 will ride better and be almost as shallow draft as the 20.
